Welcome to the website for Our Lady of Lourdes Assembly #2143. We are a small but growing, and highly active, Assembly. Some members of our Assembly are active on the District and State level.
The Color Corps of our Assembly is growing, honors requests for callouts by any Council, and will assist any Assembly in the area. We are very honored to have among our members the Color Guard Commander of the Second NJ District.
Our Faithful Navigator this Columbian year is Gary Rhodes. We have many exciting events planned for this Columbian year, and we invite one and all to come and experience Our Lady of Lourdes Assembly.
The next meeting of Our Lady of Lourdes Assembly will be on Monday, May 4, 2009, at 8 p.m. We meet at the Church of St. Martha, 3800 Herbertsville Road, in Point Pleasant, N.J. on the first Monday of the month. . Fourth Degree Knights from any Assembly are invited to attend our meetings.

Polar Bear Plunge
State Deputy Thomas Ciborski, Faithful Comptroller John Gazis, PFN, Sir Knight John Castle, PGK joined thousands of others taking the Polar Bear Plunge on Saturday, February 28, in Seaside Hts. They were raising money for the Special Olympics of New Jersey.

Dinner Cruise on the River Lady
Our Annual Dinner Cruise aboard the River Lady was held on Monday, Sept 15. The Dinner Cruise ran from 6 - 9 p.m.
The weather was perfect, a slight breeze and a beautiful sunset, making this a wonderful, relaxing dinner cruise on the Toms River. The food was good and the friendship was flowing on this night. We had a Couple from the McMahon Assembly join us, as well as Parishioners of St. Martha Church, not related to Knights. A great time was had by all who attended. Plans for a trip next summer wll be made in the future, DON"T MISS IT!!!!

Congratulations
The Ladies and Sir Knights of Our Lady of Lourdes Assembly wish to extend their congratulations to the 2 men named to the position of Master in the State of New Jersey, Joseph Olivo and Andrew Lipenta. Joe was named Master of the First New Jersey District and Andy was named Master of the Second New Jersey District shortly after the conclusion of the Supreme Convention, held in Quebec in August.
We also wish to congratulate the men they succeed Fred Conforti. First District, and Steve Richardson, Second District, on their 4 years as Master of their respective Districts. Both men had very successful terms as Master.
Purple Heart
Two members of the Color Corps of Our Lady of Lourdes Assembly, S.K. John A. Gazis, P.F.N., and S.K. Mark Brown, were in attendance when Patrick Landry of Post 701 in Howell presented a Purple Heart plaque to Rosemary Smith at Holy Family Church in Lakewood. The Award was presented to Mrs. Smith in posthumous honor of her Grandson, P.F.C. Tyler Smith. PFC Smith died in action in Iraq on Good Friday. S.K. Reynold Castellano, S.K. Thomas Lorenc and Lady Joan Lorenc were also in attendance, as were several members of P.F.C. Smith's family, as well as a few friends.

Knights of Columbus sets record for charitable giving, volunteer service
New Haven, CT - June 6, 2008 - The Knights of Columbus announced today that it set new all-time records for charitable giving and volunteer service hours in 2007. Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson released the results of the survey in a speech to state deputies and members of the board of directors in New Haven, Connecticut.
The results of the Order's Annual Survey of Fraternal Activity for the year ending December 31, 2006 show that total contributions to charity at all levels reached $144,911,781 - exceeding the previous year's total by more $1 million. The figure includes $31,235,220 donated by the Supreme Council, and $113,676,561 in charitable donations from state and local councils, Fourth Degree assemblies, and squire circles.
The survey also shows that the reported number of volunteer hours by Knights for charitable causes grew to 68,270,432 hours, up more than 400,000 hours from 2005. There were 393,030 Knights of Columbus blood donors during the year, and Knights made more than 5.5 million visits to the sick and bereaved.
Cumulative figures show that during the past decade, the Knights of Columbus has donated nearly $1.28 billion to charity, and provided in excess of 612 million hours of volunteer service in support of charitable causes.
The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest lay Catholic organization, with more than 1.75 million members in the United States, Canada, the Philippines, Mexico, Central America, and Poland.
